compliance standards, LOTO procedures, and platform features.
Getting Started
What is LOTO?
LOTO stands for Lockout/Tagout.
Before anyone works on equipment, all hazardous energy must be isolated and locked so the equipment cannot start, move, or release energy unexpectedly.
This can be electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, pressure, or stored energy.
LOTO applies during commissioning, maintenance and operations, and is one of the most critical safety processes in industry.
But LOTO is not just putting a lock on equipment.
Every isolation follows a defined SOP, with specific steps, verification and approvals.
The lock is only the physical barrier. The real safety comes from controlling the process around it.
Is LOTOcontrol compliant with industry safety standards?
Yes. Workflows align with OSHA 1910.147, IEC 60204/60947 and ISO
45001. Cloud infrastructure options carry SOC 2 and ISO 27001
certification.
Can LOTOcontrol adapt to our existing LOTO procedures?
Yes – it’s SOP-driven. Workflow stages, approval hierarchy, roles and
terminology all configure to match your existing procedure, not the
other way around.
What kind of support is available?
Most issues occur during initial setup, and we are fully committed to ensuring a smooth deployment. LOTOcontrol provides:
· A comprehensive Setup Manual and Operation Manual
· Guided onboarding for your designated system administrator
· Email and Help Desk support during working hours (Monday–Friday)
· Online documentation and user guides
· Guaranteed response to support emails within 1 business day
If additional support is required, we are flexible and can commit to tailored service agreements based on your needs — including the possibility to mobilize personnel on-site to support your implementation or resolve critical issues.
How is LOTOcontrol priced?
Pricing is based on your organization’s size, operations, and deployment scope. Here’s how it works:
1. Contact us and share your project details (e.g., team size, number of sites, workflow needs).
2. We’ll arrange a tailored demo based on your environment.
3. Once aligned, we’ll issue a formal quotation before finalizing the contract.
LOTOcontrol can be deployed at a single facility or scaled across your entire organization to standardize and centralize operations.
How often is the software updated or improved?
We don’t follow a fixed cycle, but releases are regular. Each update is tested to avoid disruptions and clients are notified in advance. For sensitive periods such as commissioning during high-risk operations, you have the option to disable automatic updates temporarily to ensure reliability.
Platform & Deployment
Is LOTOcontrol browser-based?
Yes. It works in any modern
browser, no installation needed. Tablets and phones are covered
through the browser or the dedicated mobile app.
Does LOTOcontrol support cloud and on-premise deployment?
Yes. Cloud, dedicated cloud, or fully on-premise. The right model
depends on your IT policy, data governance and business continuity
needs, and we’ll recommend the fit.
What do we need to provide for on-premise?
Rack space, power,
cooling, network connectivity and IT support. Server hardware can be
yours or ours: either way, day-to-day operations, backups and
cybersecurity stay under your IT team.
What cloud providers are supported?
LOTOcontrol is cloud agnostic.
AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or another enterprise provider of your choice.
What happens if the network or internet goes down?
On-premise deployments keep running on your local network regardless of
internet access. Mobile users can keep working offline too – actions
sync automatically once connectivity returns.
What cybersecurity measures are in place?
HTTPS/TLS encryption, encrypted credentials, role-based access control, full audit logging, and secure API controls. Dedicated cloud deployments can run on infrastructure certified to SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27001/27017/27018.
Integration & Mobility
Is there mobile access?
Yes. Dedicated iOS and Android apps. Field teams can submit requests, approve workflow steps, scan QR codes, capture photo evidence and confirm isolations directly from site.
Can LOTOcontrol integrate with our other systems?
Yes, through open REST APIs – common integrations include ePTW, EPMS, CMMS, incident management, SSO/identity platforms, and BI/reporting tools. Scope is confirmed during project design.
Does LOTOcontrol support Single Sign-On?
Yes. SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect, compatible with Microsoft Entra ID, ADFS, Okta and other enterprise identity providers.
Does LOTOcontrol support smart padlocks?
Yes. The LOTOcontrol Smart Connected Padlock (LC-BT100) uses Bluetooth 5.0+ with AES-128 encryption. It is built to our own specification by a manufacturing partner, then quality-checked and shipped under the LOTOcontrol name. Each padlock unlocks only through the authenticated app, and only for the authorized user. Traditional padlocks, smart padlocks (ours or a third party’s), or a mix of both are supported, so you can digitize at your own pace.
Is there a delay between the app and a smart padlock?
No material delay under normal network conditions – padlock status
syncs to the platform in near real time.
Workflow & Compliance
Can the workflow match our existing approval process?
Yes. You define the approval chain: how many approval levels each stage needs, who signs off at each step, and whether approvals run in sequence or in parallel. Roles and terminology follow your existing SOP, and the configuration can be locked company-wide so every site follows the same process. Share your current procedure and we’ll set it up to match.
What stages does the workflow cover?
Request → review & approval → isolation execution → verification → work execution → energization request → reinstatement approval → closure.
Does it handle both commissioning and day-to-day operations?
Yes — a dedicated Commissioning workflow for EPC/energization
activities, and an Operations workflow for routine maintenance isolation. Run either independently, or both at once across different projects.
How is accountability maintained?
Every action is tied to an authenticated user with role-based permissions, digital signatures, and a timestamped audit trail – from initial request through final reenergization.
Does it generate certificates and audit reports?
Yes, automatically — isolation certificates, energization/reinstatement certificates, acknowledgement forms, and full compliance reports, all pulling live workflow data. Exportable for audits.
How does shift handover work?
Ownership of an active isolation transfers through a controlled handover step, fully logged with timestamps and approvals – nothing changes hands informally.
How are padlocks tracked when not in use?
Every padlock lives in a digital register showing whether it’s assigned to an active isolation or sitting in storage, with full history of who used it and when.
